With the dawn of globalization and emergence of unified world economic
order, ideological pluralism, ethnic variations and cultural differences of
various nation-states needs to be chanelized for generating creative
solutions to human problems. The developing countries, including India,
struggling to position themselves in the changed economic scenario need to
overcome their multi- dimensional problems of population growth, poverty and
inequity, along with maintaining fast pace of industrialization.
It is
imperative, therefore that the less privileged societies develop a
critical mass of trained managers and leaders responsive to the challenges
of our times and inherent uncertainties of the future. Management
education thus needs to be re-oriented to enable professional manager’s
address these problems of developing countries in the context of emerging
global environment.
The
number of professionally trained managers is awfully inadequate to take on
this challenge, let alone meeting the growing requirements arising out of
private initiative and influx on international chains.
It is in
