Bengal Institute of Hotel Management is situated a mere 179 kms from Calcutta in the lush green surroundings of the University township of Santiniketan. The town is easily accessible by rail and road from Calcutta , Siliguri and rail from Vizag, Bhubaneshwar, Kharagpur, Patna and the whole of North East and Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim.
Santiniketan : This University township situated in the North of Calcutta carries historical importance because of it’s association with India’s two nobel laureates, Rabindra Nath Tagore (the founder of Santiniketan) and more recently Prof.Amartya Sen. This town is a melting pot of culture with students from al over the world coming here to get education of their choice and is a most sought after University.
Santiniketan was the first international University of India and since have not changed one bit and still retains it’s much known culture and methods of learning.
The institute is situated at Prantik (5 kms from the railway station) adjacent to the premises of “CAMELLIA” a three star deluxe category hotel and resort, spread on 3 acres of landscaped gardens and is the flagship hotel of Multiple Group of Companies. The hotel has 52 well appointed rooms and suites, conference facilities and three F&B outlets, swimming pool and an upcoming corporate club. The second hotel would be situated at Puri and is in construction stage and is expected to be completed and commissioned by March 2000. This hotel would be a state of the art modern resort hotel with 70 rooms and other amenities like a discotheque.
Classes would be held in a modern multi storeyed institute building while all practicals would be held at CAMELLIA.
HOSTEL FACILITIES : Hostel facilities are available for 45 students on first come first serve basis. Fully furnished rooms on sharing basis are available. The rooms are well ventilated with attached toilets, 24 hrs running hot and cold water, telephone, cable television, doctor on call and recreational facilities have been provided.
LIBRARY : BIHM is equipped with latest books, journals, periodicals and a host of reading materials, including industrial studies. It has the latest stock of cassettes on hospitality management and maintains video library with related facilities.
GUEST LECTURES : Regular talks, lectures and inputs by reputed hoteliers and executives are organized on campus for an industry academic interface.
PLACEMENT DIRECTORATE : Bihm gives special importance to the placement of its students, both for industrial training and final placements. Continuous efforts are on for enlarging the relationship base to provide further added opportunities to our students for better and immediate placement on completion of the course.
The Board of Directors of the institute comprise of most eminent personalities of the region. Most of them are held at esteem in the business society. The academic council members and the adjunct faculty are also men of eminence and are well connected with several organizations as their consultants. The placement directorate receives full guidance from them. We are also tied up with reputed consultants for final placements of students . The Institute guarantees 100% placement for all its student
