THE LOCATION
A beautiful and serene campus is needed for healthy learning. The campus of Camellia School of Business Management (CSBM) is aesthetically designed spreading around over 50 bighas of land in the serenity of Madhyamgram, Kolkata. The verdant plantation, lush green lawns and open space create a serene and placid atmosphere for creative and innovative style of learning. The stimulating environment and serenity are both very inspiring for the body and mind. The Institute has all modern resources needed to provide quality education and facilitate better learning. The Institute has separate academic and administrative building. There are well equipped Library, Computer Labs, spacious class- rooms and Faculty block. It has conference room to facilitate guest lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences.
THE PROGRAMME- MBA
Camellia’s Masters in Business Administration (MBA) through the distance learning mode are especially designed to equip the students with a comprehensive management education. The curriculum lays strong emphasis on the logical and analytical skills of the students. The programme provides an intensive, stimulating and challenging learning experience in the main management disciplines. The successful completion of the MBA will enable students to rise through the corporate ladder and assume strategic role in their organizations. Organizations will also be benefitted by the availability of qualified professional manpower to meet their skill gap and to survive in a competitive market. The integrated nature of the MBA programme allows a holistic appreciation of business, which is critical to the achievement of a sustainable competitive position in today’s ever- changing business environment.PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
- To equip students on the relevant theoretical issues in business management disciplines
- To develop students’ proficiency in analysis and interpretation of real life business.
- To develop personal and interpersonal skills required for effective management and implementation of solutions at all levels within or outside the organization.
- To enable students to critically appreciate the significance of recent theoretical developments in business and their strategic implications.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
To facilitate students’ to pursue the programme keeping pace with their work schedule and other organizational commitments, the programme follows a modular structure and provides adequate opportunity for continuity and flexibility. It consists of four modules. The completion of all modules leads to MBA Degree.
The first two modules consist of twelve core papers intended to enable students to master the theoretical issues in business management disciplines. The third and fourth modules are designed for specialization subjects. Each student gets flexibility to specialize in one major and one minor area subjects. These apart, students are required to submit their dissertation on major specialization area. Students are required to appear before a panel of experts to defend their dissertation work, which forms a part of evaluation. The course can be completed within two years time frame.
The course will be conducted under off campus distance learning mode with the help of study materials and Personal Contact Programmes (PCP) from our expert faculty members. Students before joining the PCPs are required to study the materials and get clarified about their doubts and enrich their knowledge base. Attendance in PCPs is compulsory and carries 10% weight in final evaluation.

Graduation in any discipline from any recognized University or Institute.
ENROLMENT
The admission to MBA programme through distance mode will be done directly by CSBM or through its study centers. The application forms will be available with the study centers and the completed application forms can be submitted there as well.

SELECTION
The selection to the programme of Camellia Distance Learning Institute is based on screening by the selection committee. Admission to Two year MBA Programme is through Admission Test to be conducted by the Information and Training Centers on behalf of Camellia Distance Learning Institute.
Candidates appearing in final year of the qualifying examination can also apply, but they will have to produce the proof of having passed the examination within six months of the date of admission.
ENROLMENT OF STUDENTS
Admission to Two Year MBA Programme is through admission test to be conducted by CSBM. However, following categories of persons are exempted from admission test provided they are graduate:
- Senior Public Administrators with 5 years of experience
- Officers of Defence Services with 5 years of experience
- Academicians with 5 years of teaching experience
- Technical or legal Professional/ CA/ ICWA/ CS/ MBBS with 5 years of experience
DOCUMENTORY ATTACHMENTS WITH APPLICATION FORMS
The following documents are to be attached with the completed application form:-
- Three passport size photographs.
- Photo-copy of the degree or the final year mark sheets.
- Photo-copy of the High School Certificate for the verification of the date of birth, student’s and father’s name.
- Proof of work experience (as per attached format)
- Certificate for SC/ST/Defence Personnel/Physically Handicapped candidates.
FACILITIES
E-LIBRARY & INFORMATION HUB
The library is the main learning resource center and provides services and facilities to meet the requirement of the study, teaching, training, research and consultancy programs. The library houses a rich collection of CDs and Videos on different aspects of management and technology. Several annual reports from the public and private sector organizations have been collected to be used as reference material. Wide range of both printed and electronic sources of information are available. It is the nerve center of all the intellectual and academic activities of the institute.
BOOK BANK
CSBM has established a separate BOOK BANK which has a collection of nearly 2800 books thereby rendering a back up support to the students and faculty members.
SEMINAR ROOM
The Institute has a seminar room for conducting seminars held by well renowned academicians and industrialists, conferences and quizzes, role-playing etc. The institute has already organized seminars held by persons like World Bank Consultants, IIM Professors, CEO’s of foreign based companies, and Ex- Vice Chancellor of different institutes, etc. on IT and Management.
CLASS ROOM
Furnished, spacious, airy and well lit classrooms with latest training aids and comfortable furniture from the hub center of our teaching activities. Well-furnished rooms are also available for specialization classes, tutorial classes and for other consultation purposes.

COMPUTER LABORATORY
Study centers will maintain adequate technical facilities to ensure proper conduct of the programme. Hands on computer sessions and exercise will be held for the information technology subjects.

Limited library facilities will also be available at most of the study centers. The students can refer to different specialized text/reference books and journals. TEACHING METHODOLOGY
Camellia Distance Learning Institute has developed various teaching methodologies, prominent among those being the Personal Contact Programme.
UNIQUE PERSONAL CONTACT PROGRAMME
An extensive Personal Contact Programme (PCP) supports the comprehensive study material for our Distance Education course. Our students can opt for the compact PCP organized by our information and training centers on weekends throughout the year. The PCPs provide the forum for interactive education and the students are expected to use the opportunity to clarify and enrich their knowledge base. Attendance in PCPs is compulsory and carries 10% weight age towards End-Term Examinations.
GROUP LEARNING
Group Learning is an effective vehicle preparing prospective managers to be proactive in seeking and acquiring knowledge rather than being limited to lecture sessions. Free exchange of ideas and information among group members through discussions and presentations is a proven methodology for the development of professional and communication skills.
THE CASE METHOD
The case method is also used extensively to help to develop analytical skills critical to business decision-making. The students are exposed to the complexities of the highly competitive professional environment under simulated conditions to help evolve a competent race of new generations’ managers.
STUDY MATERIALS & TEXT BOOKS
All students are sent a set of text books/ study materials as per the course calendar at the beginning of the session.
HANDS ON COMPUTER SESSIONS
Practical sessions are held at the information and training centers. In these centers, the students have the facility to use the computer and software packages relevant to the syllabus.
Students are expected to do hands-on exercise on computers. During practical sessions, each student would work on his own through the required exercises.
PROJECT WORK
The project work constitutes a major component in most of the professional programmes. The objective of the same is to help the students to develop their abilities to apply theoretical and practical tools/techniques to solve real life problems related to Industry, Academic Institutions and Research.
Every student is required to submit a project on a subject of his/her own choice. During the PCP inputs shall be provided for preparation towards project work. Marks will be given on presentation, amount of research and Viva-Voce.

FEES STRUCTURE
The academic fee for the programme is payable for the entire year at the beginning of the academic session. Failure to deposit the fee would debar them from the PCPs and continued failure would result in the loss of an academic year.
